Built in 2003, the Sports Factory is a 39,000 square foot climate controlled indoor soccer facility in Lincoln Park, NJ. The state of the art facility features four ‘field turf” indoor soccer fields, a two-lane 60-yard sprint track and a 2,000 square foot speed & agility center. It also houses a 3,000 square foot glass enclosed mezzanine with offices, an expanded snack bar, stadium-style seating, wireless internet, flat panel televisions, restrooms, and a glass-enclosed party room.
I was hired to turn around the underperforming facility in 2015. I produced and led a team that executed a business model to reinvigorate the company by establishing a sister soccer training company and an elite Academy, TSF Academy, to establish new revenue streams that created synergy between all components to thereby, increase utilization of the facility, expand revenues and maximize the efficiency of overall resources.
The plan increased assigned business segment revenues by 1,740 percent, established ongoing increased profitability and the overall company financial valuation. During my tenure, The Sports Factory completed major affiliate agreements with twelve clubs to supply instructional coaching services to over 5,000 players annually, filled the facility to 99% capacity during the peak season, and 76% in the off-season.
To support the growth, I built a 22-member full-time staff with one of the lowest employee turnover rates in the industry and created a marketing campaign to reinforce the brand. The established business model at the time was recognized as one of the most successful in the indoor facility industry.
