The New Jersey Eagles soccer club represented the New York metropolitan areas in the East Coast-based American Professional Soccer League (APSL) from 1988-1990. At the time the APSL represented the highest level of professional soccer in the United States. The Eagles were considered a New York Cosmos alumni society with a number of ex-Cosmos executives leading the front office and former Cosmos players making up the Eagles coaching staff and playing roster.
I was signed as a professional player in the 1990 season, as one of the league allowed two foreign players. As a rookie, I started in every game. Additionally, I represented the club at promotional events in the community. At the end of the season, I was offered a three-year contract but unfortunately, the team folded in the 1990 post season.
